Well last week I was let loose in the video store and I got myself some great stuff. As I alw do when I'm around video stores, or records stores...... I'm also broke now. So donations are welcome



Anyway what I got for myself were:

Lost 2nd season
I had not seen any of the episodes - I don't watch Lost on TV simply because I buy it when it comes out on DVD and knock myself out with 2 days of watching. I also hate the slowness of progression on TV. It just makes me crazy! I have to wait a week and then the thing I expected the most might not even be in it! But I love the series and I can't wait for the 3rd season release. Lost has such excellent characters and actors and character dynamics.

Memorable bits for me:

The Descent
Whoever was it that told me this was an interesting thing to watch?? I haven't seen a more boring or ridiculous film in my life. How did it get 71 on Metacritic?

Miller's Crossing
I knew nothing of this film when I saw the DVD in the store and bought it. And now it has a place among my personal favorites. It is a goddamn work of Art! The expression on Gabriel Byrnes' face in the end --- priceless! Watch it!

Moments:
Caspar: Friends is a mental state.

V for Vendetta
yeah, I didn't go to see it when it ran in cinemas so now I bought it. I recently watched it with a friend of mine (A.P.), but the volume on that laptop was so bad that I didn't get half the movie....for a person who lives under the headphones 21/7 - me! me! me! ME!!!!!!! - what do you expect? There should have been a 3000W speaker system there and I still would have complained! I gotta watch it again.

Return to Paradise
one of my long term favorites. I like this film a lot. Its atmosphere. Vince Vaughn and Anne Heche. I didn't yet like Joaquin Phoenix when this came out though. I must have been 15 years old then or something. Now I appreciate him more as an actor. Times do change. Anyway, a bit of personal taste.
